The Meating is a jazz ambient duo project composed of multi-instrumentalist Marc Micu and electric guitarist Ryan Keating, both based in Victoria, BC.Sharing an intense love for jazz, they also perform together in the Reuben Shepherd Band, as well as Thistle, while remaining active in other musical projects. Marc and Ryan started busking regularly together in March of 2026 on Government Street, as well as on the corner of Oxford Street and Cook Street in Cook Street Village. Their improvised music collected a lot of buzz, as passers-by shared that it was “what the city needs”, and how the duo’s sound complimented the urban cityscape of Vancouver Island. On May 27, 2026 during a local open mic, busker Chris Elliot suggested to Marc and Ryan that they should create a social media presence, which ultimately birthed The Meating.
